Whispers of Razari

by

Cindy C Bennett and Jeffery Moore

When sixteen year old Olivia Adams wakes from a horrible car accident that killed her parents, she knows she’s something different. Olivia died, and now the soul inhabiting her body needs to find out who - and what - she is. A glimpse of a world called Razari burning is the only clue to her previous existence—a tragic memory, sparking events that endanger the people helping her.

Jacobi McKenzie has lived in Crescent, Montana for more years than he can remember, even though he's only seventeen. He's been waiting, but for what he isn't sure. Jacobi recognizes Olivia for what she is before she's even aware of it herself and the effect she has on him threatens to expose his true identity--a thing he’s worked hard to conceal.

They come together in an explosion of emotion that neither of them is supposed to feel. As Jacobi fights for Olivia's life, protecting her from those who would use her for their own
selfish purposes, together they unravel the mystery surrounding the destruction of their race.

Fight or Flight #2

As promised, here is the official title for the sequel to Fight or Flight!

The story isn't finished and the official blurb isn't quite ready, but I can share a few things with you.

Now or Never follows Em and Jay's story as they work hard to build a life for themselves, but the past isn't done with them, yet. While Em still struggles to overcome the ghosts of her past, Jay is forced to come face-to-face with his. This book takes a closer look at the skeletons in Jay's closet, and what he's willing to do to protect Em from them.

Now or Never has a tentative release date for this fall, but you can add it to your TBR shelf on Goodreads now, here.

First Peek at Sink or Swim

For those of you whom I may have confused, let me clarify...

SINK or SWIM is the spin-off novel from Fight or Flight. It is Al's story as it follows her back home to the life she thought she left behind. (Official blurb coming soon). And, it is due out in July/August-ish. Yeah, I know I'm terrible with setting release dates, I'd just hate to disappoint you if it wasn't ready in time.

Not to confuse you further, but there is also a sequel to Fight or Flight coming out sometime this fall which will continue Em and Jay's story, and is currently untitled, though you can probably guess there will be an OR in there somewhere ;)

But I digress, the point of this post is to introduce you to SINK or SWIM, let you get a closer look into Al's life and meet the ever-so-drool-worthy Dean Ritter.

I hope this gets you as excited about this upcoming release as I am. Enjoy!

*Warning: This book is New Adult and intended for mature audiences*

“Alli!”

Her eyes shot open and she groaned against the light pouring into the room. It was eight-fourteen, according to the clock on the DVD player. Even crashing on the couch, she hadn’t slept that good in months. Home may have been its own brand of hell, but it did have its perks.

Abrupt knocking reminded her of what had woken her in the first place.

“I’m not going anywhere, Alli, so you might as well open the damn door.”

Dean. Dammit. What the hell was he thinking? If he woke her father up . . . Crap! Alli scrambled off the couch and threw open the door.

“What are you doing?”

“Waiting for you to get off your ass and open the damn—” He stopped short and just stared at her. Her in her old board shorts and cami she’d worn to bed last night. Shit. “What the fuck? Get dressed.”

“What do you mean ‘get dressed’?”

“I mean . . . get your bony ass body into some damn clothes right now so I can get you something to eat.” Oh boy, bossy Dean was back full force and damn if it wasn’t still hot.

“I don’t need—”

“Don’t give me that crap. And don’t you dare try and tell me you don’t need to eat. Look at you, Al. What the hell happened to you?”

“Nothing. And I don’t—”

“Get. Dressed.” Not a request. “Or you’re going like that. Actually, I kind of like that idea.”

Dammit, she couldn’t keep standing there, arguing with him. They were definitely going to wake up her father. “Give me ten minutes.”

“You’ve got five,” he sniped as she shut the door in his face.

Don't want to miss the rest??? Add it to your GR TBR list now, here!

Unbelievable Blog Tour!!!

Unbelievable (Port Fare series Book 2)

Lilah Lopez Dreser's in town to take care of unfinished family business. They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree ... or does it? Is there more to this Dreser than meets the eye? Is Cole in mortal danger when this firestorm throws sparks his way? This time around it may be a Dreser causing an uproar in Port Fare. It just may be Cole's best friend Booker. But is he wrong? Usually not!

My Review:

I've read a lot of books. As in, admitting you have a problem is the first step a lot, a LOT of books. That being said, you'd think choosing a favorite would be difficult, if not impossible. It isn't. Unlovable (book #1 in the Port Fare Series) has been my undisputable favorite book since I read it (the first time).

Since then, I've been waiting patiently (or maybe not so patiently) for book #2. With psyching myself up so much, I must admit I was a little bit nervous going into Unbelieveable. Thankfully, the amazing Sherry Gammon did not disappoint.

There were so many things to love about Unbelievable, I don't even know where to start. Oh, wait... yes I do. With the characters!

Lilah, oh Lilah! I love this girl. Okay, yes, she originally shows up in town with some not-so-nice plans for some of my favorite characters of all time, but that has all been forgiven. Where Maggie was a bit of a damsel in distress character in book one, Lilah was basically her polar opposite. Don't get me wrong, Maggie is without a doubt my favorite fictional character ever, but there's nothing bad about a lil kick-ass in a heroine, either. This girl has a whole host of her own issues to deal with, but she's not afraid to meet them head on and to do what needs to be done to protect the people she cares about.

And Cole. I must admit. I had my doubts about him pulling off the role of hero based on the first book, but he definitely steps up and fills the big-boy shoes in this one. He's an entirely different kind of hero than either Seth or Booker, but he's ever bit as endearing. I love Opie!

And then there are the others. I think possibly my favorite thing about this book is that, though it revolves around Lilah and Cole's story, it doesn't leave anyone out. All our favorites from the first book are back and better than ever. Seth, Maggie and Booker all have big roles in the story that keep you thoroughly invested in each of them. I can't even explain how excited I am for Booker's story!

Now, onto the story. It was one that cost me hours of sleep because I just couldn't put it down. The perfect combination of heart-warming, gut-busting, head-scratching, adrenaline-inducing story telling. Cole and Lilah's relationship started out  slowly... very slowly, and very believably for the characters involved, but the action and intrigue kept the pages flowing nicely. By the time everything started to fall into place, I was so invested that stopping wasn't an option until I knew how everything would turn out.

Unbelievable, like the entire Port Fare series, is very high on my recommendation list. It will hold a place of honor on the top shelf of my bookcase right along side Unlovable. Trust me, if you enjoy contemporary romance, you do NOT want to miss out on this series!!!

Excerpt from Unbelievable:

“Who the heck is calling me at one a.m.?” The alarm clock tumbled to the floor as I grabbed my cell phone, answering without looking at the display. It had to be Daddy. No one else would be so rude.
“Any luck? Did you get the information?” Daddy fired his questions before I had the phone to my ear.
“Hello, Daddy. Yes, I’m fine, and how are you feeling?” I asked, my voice dripping with acidity. I sat up, noting that the A/C wasn’t working again.
“Don’t get snippy with me, young lady,” he demanded.
“It’s been a week and a half. You have to be fair,” I treaded carefully. “I’m gaining the girl’s trust. I’m going to cut and style her hair—”
“You’re playing dress up with the girl who murdered your brother? Are you out of your mind?” His rage was cut short by a coughing fit.
“Daddy, settle down. Please, give me a little time,” I pleaded.
“You have ‘til the end of summer,” he insisted. “I want this revenge to happen, Lilah. I’m doing this for you, princess. I’m dying. I don’t want to leave you destitute. This is more for you than me now that I’m dying.”
“I don’t want their money—”
“You listen to me. I’m your father. I provided you with a good life. Did you not have all the finest things money could buy growing up? I took you on elaborate vacations, purchased expensive jewelry for you whenever you asked. Family first, Delilah. Always. And it’s about time you stepped up and pulled your weight.” He trailed off, murmuring about how Birdie had made me soft.
I dried my sweaty brow with the hem of my shirt.
“I know, Daddy, and maybe you’re right about Birdie, but I don’t want their money—”
He cut me off again. “You’ll do as you’re told if you expect me to stand by our agreement. Do you understand?”
“Okay. I won’t let you down,” I said, seeing no point in arguing. As I suspected, the revenge was for Daddy.  Everything was for Daddy. It always was. The phone call ended without a good bye.
I flopped facedown onto my pillow. All the old feelings of helplessness came roaring back into my head, squeezing my heart. I knew what was coming, what always came whenever I felt like I was being forced into something.
I fought sleep for as long as I could by walking around my tiny apartment and drinking a couple cans of Diet Pepsi, which only made me pee three times.
The memories began. Memories of blood-curdling screams pouring out of my brothers as they received beatings after disobeying Daddy’s orders. The screams. The gut-wrenching screams. I wrapped my arms around me as I tried to force the memories back.
Only once had Daddy beaten me like that. When my mother came home and found out, they had the biggest fight I’d ever witnessed. Daddy never hit her, but I was sure he would. My mother stood her ground, never flinching, never backing down. He never hit me again after that.
Oh, Mami, why am I not more like you?”
By four a.m., exhaustion won and I surrendered to the nightmare.
